7 Practices to Be More Confident

Confidence is a valuable quality to have in life, but it can be hard to achieve. Knowing how to be confident can help you feel more confident in social situations, in your career, and in your relationships. Gaining confidence is as easy as you make it, but like most great attributes, it takes practice. Here are 7 simple tips that can help you become more confident:

1. Practice Positive Self-Talk

Negative thoughts about yourself can tear you down and prevent you from feeling confident. Instead, make it a habit to focus on the positive qualities in yourself and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Words hold so much power in this life. What you speak can manifest itself so be careful to only speak kindly and highly of yourself. Even if you don’t yet feel the weight of your words, give yourself an encouraging pep talk! If you were to encourage your friend for something, you would point out all the amazing qualities they have and speak love and light in their life, so why not do this for yourself?

2. Dress to Impress...You

When you look your best, you’ll gain the confidence to take on anything. Find clothes you feel good in and make sure you get out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Finding clothes that have the fit that you like, doing your nails, and wearing accessories can make you feel like a completely new person. If you haven’t broken out that pair of heels or tried that new perfume, there’s no better time! You don’t always have to wait for a special occasion to feel special. Every day is an opportunity to feel like the star.

3. Exercise Regularly

Exercise releases endorphins, which can boost your mood and make you feel more positive. After a good workout, you feel more accomplished and productive which in turn brings you confidence. Incorporating exercise as part of your regular routine is an act of love for your body. Whenever you are showing yourself, love you are also growing your confidence

4. Practice Mindfulness

Practicing coming back to the breath allows you to experience joy and happiness because you are in the here and now. The worries of the future and past cannot hurt you in this moment and there is no one greater or less than you. When you continue to practice being in the present moment you find that your existence is just as beautiful and important as anyone else.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive People

Confidence can be enhanced or destroyed by the people around you. Make sure your friends lift you up. You are the average of the five people you surround yourself with, so selecting friendships that nurture your confidence will bring out the best in you. When you're having discussions with friends, you can use mindfulness to address things that don't bring life and introduce constructive conversation instead.

6. Take Risks

Try something new, even if you’re scared. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes – it’s all part of the learning process. You’ll be surprised at how much confidence you’ll gain from taking risks. Without risks, telling an amazing story is difficult, and it's hard to learn valuable lessons from life. There is so much to say for a person who is brave enough to take a risk and with this newfound confidence, you are able to accomplish anything your set your mind to.

7. Believe in Yourself

Above all, believe in yourself. Have faith in your abilities and remind yourself that you’re capable of achieving your goals. It may seem like a simple thing to say, but remember how special and amazing you are. You are a fingerprint in this world that no one else can compare or copy. Anything and everything you need, you already have so shine like the amazing being you are
